Development

For further development of the project, we thought about how people would move through the pavilion if it was to be built on site, which was at an intersection near Lumen Field. I simplified the floor plan into one central pentagon branching off into three hexagons which are spaces designed to provide rest and respite for the users and provide information on the history of Seattle, for the tourists entering the space. During this stage, we also developed the roof further and experimented with different shapes by bending metal sheets.

The final roof shape was this abstract form, inspired by the waves in Puget Sound and the sound waves echoing throughout a stadium. There are several gaps between the pavilion and its roof to let sunlight and air into the space.
